[2013-01-11] What *IS* The Bare Minimum...? -- article by Dennis Wilson
  • What *IS* the absolute bare minimum that Voluntary Groups of any size--two people or more--need to agree upon, in order to live together peacefully and productively?
  • The slow motion collapse of central governments, following the historical model of the Imperial Roman Empire, will lead has already led to conditions in which the Covenant can and should play a vital role.

1,000 "Dark" Years

"An age is called Dark not because the light fails to shine, but because people refuse to see it." — James Michener

I include the following series of articles about the Middle Ages with the Covenant of Unanimous Consent because the slow motion collapse of central governments, following the historical model of the Imperial Roman Empire, will lead has already led to conditions in which the Covenant can and should play a vital role.

Timeline

What *IS* so important about 1,000 years of human history that advocates of government need to label it "Dark"?

As the Imperial Roman Empire became increasingly tyrannical and finally died, people ran away to the Germanic and Frankish areas that surrounded Rome. To illustrate that fact, here’s a quote from a man named Salvian the Presbyter, from about 440 AD:
  • Thus, far and wide, they migrate either to the Goths or to the Bagaudae, or to other barbarians everywhere in power; yet they do not repent of having migrated. They prefer to live as freemen under an outward form of captivity, than as captives under the appearance of liberty. Therefore, the name of Roman citizens, at one time not only greatly valued, but dearly bought, is now repudiated and fled from, and it is almost considered not only base, but even deserving of abhorrence.

  • Law Merchant developed during the time when humans in Europe actually REJECTED the existing Roman law and customs (which caused the collapse of the Empire!) and managed to live--and thrive-- for 1,000 years without big, central government! When the big, central government of Ancient Rome collapsed, small groups in Europe organized themselves--and their laws--for their common defense and trade and lived in their small groups, trading with other small groups, for 1000 years...

Individual vs the State
Threat Assessments from a Sovereign Individual perspective.

To their OWN citizens!

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."
--Joseph Goebbels

How many more men, women, and children have to be slaughtered
by your government in the name of your republic
before you understand that
you are NOT represented by that government,
your consent does NOT matter to those in power,
they have NO interest in protecting life, liberty, nor property?
All they want is as much as they can steal.
You are the fine set of ruebens they steal from.
Jim Davidson

During the 20th Century, governments murdered over 200 MILLION of their own citizens. The institution of Government is the largest terrorist organization known to mankind*. The irrationality of Government has ALWAYS led to collapse of the societies and cultures build around them or conquered by them. Do YOU trust ANY of the multiple governments that claim to rule YOUR ONE AND ONLY life? Do you really think any of those government employees give a damn about YOUR life, liberty or property--other than making some pretense to confiscate all three of them?

Free Bradley Manning!
http://tinyurl.com/FREE-Brad-Manning

Bradley Manning, who REPORTED the war crimes, has been jailed, AND WITHOUT A TRIAL!!
The killer/soldier criminals who COMMITTED the war crimes are still running around FREE!

And NOW they have added 9 Afghan boys collecting firewood to their flag!

It is NOW OFFICIAL! The president said that Manning “broke the law”.
I guess that is why he has never been (and probably never will be) brought to a "speedy trial".

2013-March-01 Update on Bradley Manning
  • Manning, who has been jailed for more than 1,000 days, is finally being charged.
  • At the hearing, through his attorney Manning pleaded not guilty to the most serious charge, of aiding the enemy. [WHAT ENEMY? THE USA HAS NOT DECLARED A WAR SINCE WW2!!!!.. Constitution? What constitution?..DENNIS]
2013-August-02 Committing War Crimes is a Duty; Reporting Them is a Felony
                       By William Norman Grigg
  • The sham trial is over. The title above says it all.
  • Bradley Manning is the only combat veteran of the Iraq war whose service is worth honoring.

Free Bernard von NotHaus!

Bernard von NotHaus issued gold and silver coins (Liberty Dollars) that will today bring more in [paper USA] dollars than he charged for them. Ben Bernanke, the chairman of the Federal Reserve, issued (and continues to issue) paper notes that are today worth but a fraction of the gold or silver they were worth at the time they were issued. One man is facing the possibility of years in prison after a federal jury found his issuing of money to have been a crime. The other man is walking around free and being treated by the authorities with great deference.

Do you see the pattern?
GOVERNMENT is NOT BOUND by any rules such as constitutions, laws or moral codes--or "justice".
It will dispose of Individual citizens in any manner it desires.
It will even assassinate Individual citizens whenever it wants, without even a mock trial, claiming "terrorist"--if it even bothers itself to make a claim.

Carl von Clausewitz points out in his most famous dictum,
"War is the continuation of politics by other means."
This view is seconded by Mao Zedong, who said,
"The power of the state grows out of the barrel of a gun."
Both men understood the essentially violent nature of the political process, of which war is the ultimate expression.

You cannot "Be all that you can be" when you are dead.

As Lysander Spooner said in 1870:

  • “But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist.

YOUR choice is: survival, or government.

“Liberty and Justice for all” ??

The Pledge of Allegiance should have a disclaimer* at the end.

liberty (plural liberties)

1.   The condition of being free from control or restrictions.
2.   The condition of being free from imprisonment, slavery or forced labour.
3.   The condition of being free to act, believe or express oneself as one chooses.
4.   Freedom from excess government control.

*Disclaimer: Must be 18 (21 in some states) or older, void where prohibited by law, some restrictions apply, not available in all states. And oh, yes. By Judicial decree, the Fourth Amendment is no longer valid anywhere.

[2006-09-10] Why I don't give a Shiite* about "The Great Islamic Threat" debate -- article by Dennis Wilson
  • The entire public debate on "The Great Islamic Threat" is a Red Herring that diverts our attention from a closer, more real and immediate threat.
  • The multiple Tyrannies in DC and my state, county and city are much closer to me and have more direct control over my actions, my property and my life, than any real or imagined Islamic threat.
  • The article was posted in Sep, 2006. It should be obvious by now [July, 2011] that the enemy is not the muslims, the Iranians, the Mexicans, the Chinese, or any other boogy man that the feds cook up for us. Can anyone still deny that the enemy is right here at home--and that the enemy IS government itself!

Remember Liberty Dollar? How convenient that their gold and silver were all stored in a "secure" warehouse that the USA government could raid. Maybe, like Waco, they did it for the chiiiilden?

Be careful out there!  Banks and governments are not the ONLY thieves.

  • "When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion
    - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing
    - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors
    - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work,
and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you
    - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice

    - you may know that your society is doomed."

    --Ayn Rand

Remember MF Global? Those were "secure", allocated funds that were stolen. The CEO/president--who is a good friend of the USA Vice-president--has NEVER been charged or jailed. Even some libertarian financial advisers got taken in that fraud.

Armed citizens and Nuclear Weapons
  • On nuclear weapons and the 'well-regulated militia' by Vin Suprynowicz

Three Mile Island-USA, Chernobyl-USSR, Fukushima Daiichi-Japan.
ANY system can fail at some time for some reason–and “America’s Extinction Level Event” shows some of the reasons.
Preference should be given to systems that "fail safe", i.e. fail in such a way as to protect human life and property.
In the "system" of nuclear energy, THORIUM is a "fail safe" system. Uranium is NOT!

Current nuclear plants COULD BE converted to the much safer thorium. Will it happen? While the truth about thorium is ignored or suppressed, the answer is "NO!" Do your part and become informed. Then tell someone else.

http://tinyurl.com/THORIUM-energy
THORIUM energy alternative to Nuclear Power + GOVERNMENT meddling to suppress it!
Yet another government lie that we have lived with--and many have died from.

         What is special about thorium?

  • There is a nuclear technology called thorium that has the ability to provide all the energy that we need for the next 10,000 years in the United States. One of these reactors was built at Oak Ridge in the 1960s, and proved that it works.
  • "US physicists in the late 1940s explored thorium fuel for power. It has a higher neutron yield than uranium, a better fission rating, longer fuel cycles, and does not require the extra cost of isotope separation. The plans were shelved because thorium does not produce plutonium for bombs."
  • Thorium is as abundant as lead, (it is in COAL!) and produces far less radioactive waste than uranium. But development was shunted aside by the FedGov because it could not be used to exterminate its enemies.
  • All the impassioned anti-nuclear agitation of the last half century, all the delay and all of the admittedly overstated danger, and all the massive dependence on oil with its potential for conflict in the Middle East, could have been avoided if only the FedGov had not been fixated on weapons of mass destruction. I knew that government had screwed up nukes but I did not know the enormous, wicked extent of the deception.
  • By weight, thorium can produce 200 times as much energy as uranium, reactors are cheaper to design and waste, much cheaper to store - even if it is stored; for in thorium reactors, the waste can be regenerated for use as fuel. It is also inherently safer, since its fission reaction has to be primed; absent an external neutron stream, it shuts down automatically.
  • Control rods are not needed, either to regulate energy production or to stop fission in an emergency, because the fission rate is determined by the proton accelerator. If the accelerator stops sending protons, fission stops almost instantly.
  • Thorium is in coal. Take the thorium out of the coal, use it as a power source, and then turn the coal into synfuel. The Germans perfected this process, and there is actually now a commercial plant running in South Africa by a company called Sasol.
  • India is switching to thorium and China is committed to extensive use of this technology.

[2008-07-06] "American Revolutionary War Battle at King's Mountain" -- Letter by Dennis Wilson
  • "Overmountain Men", Americans settlers of largely Scotch-Irish descent settled west of, or "over," the Appalachians, united into a semi-autonomous government called the Watauga Association in 1772 and, when threatened by the most powerful nation on earth, decisively demonstrated

  • The number of firearms purchased by Americans in the first 3 months of 2009 were enough to equip the two largest armies in the world, the Chinese and Indian armies!

  • I answer questions that, taken without thinking can lead to the emotional equivalent of "Oh yes, yes. I can see that we DO NEED government." However, simple reflection and the connection of some widely known facts can put each of these concerns to rest.

[2010-Nov] 21st Century militia is very effective--even without guns!
  • The 17,000 (German) police officers that marched into the woods around the nuclear storage facility in Gorleben in northern Germany on Sunday morning looked invincible.
  • But by Sunday night, those same police officers were begging the protestors for a respite.
  • The police officers were exhausted after shifts of 24 hours or more, often without any food or just a cappucino and snack bar, and they had nothing to look forward to but more of the same drudgery after a night spent four to a room in a Youth Hostel.
  • The largest ever police operation had descended into chaos and confusion
  • Will this warning be heeded by American politicians? Not likely. But these follow-on events certainly have American politicians scared: Tunisia, Egypt, Yeman, Algeria, Libya, Jordan, Syria, Morocco... WHY? Because they are ALL spontaneous, 'anarchic' uprisings AGAINST GOVERNMENT itself!

THE DEADLY USA BORDER--BERLIN REDUX

  • Like Berlin except that USA border guards KILL people trying to ENTER OR LEAVE!
  • Not just the border with Mexico!! Canadians are also "terrorists" to the USA Federal government
  • A large number of people have simply refused to travel to America anymore because entering the country is like trying to get into the old East Germany. This is killing the tourism industry and costing hundreds of millions of dollars each year. A 2006 investigation by the Discover America Partnership found that tourism to America had sunk due to “a climate of fear and frustration that is turning away foreign business and leisure travelers from visiting the United States and damaging America’s image abroad.” No less than a third of tourists vowed never to return to America after experiencing the treatment of Homeland Security officials at ports of entry. By early 2007, the U.S. had lost around 60 million visitors as a result of the stifling and intrusive security measures implemented since 9/11.
  • Would YOU cross the border to just do some shopping if you had to risk your life to uniformed idiots with a badge, a hostile attitude, guns, and a license to kill?

Before you say, "There should be a law", stop and think. All laws authorize government to use lethal force, at the end of a gun, to see them carried out. Is the issue REALLY important enough that you want to enable the government to kill people over it?

In an earlier posting, someone said [A fence that is] “Good enough to keep “them” out is good enough to keep us in”. If anyone should need proof of that statement, proof is certainly abundant—and brought to you by the same government that employed the (still unprosecuted) killers at Ruby Ridge and Waco:

At the link above are follow up articles about the hazards of getting OUT of the USA.

Questions to ponder:

WHY do US authorities stop cars going INTO Mexico?
Shouldn’t that be the function of Mexican authorities?
Do we, in FACT, actually live INSIDE a prison?

"Is not nationalism -- that devotion to … a boundary so fierce it engenders mass murder -- one of the great evils of our time, along with racism, along with religious hatred?"  --Howard Zinn

Quote
Many individuals of our time maintain that we should not abolish immigration control
until the immigrants have assimilated into our society.
And further, that we should continue to deprive them of liberty
until we have (somehow) abolished government welfare.
Or that we should not abolish government
until we have learned to live together without higher authority.

These positions are worthy of the silly old fool, who resolved to AVOID the water
until he had learned to swim.

If men are to wait for liberty till they become wise and good in slavery they may indeed wait for ever.

"Do we live in a republic where the Constitution, which has a fixed and knowable meaning, is the supreme law of the land? • Not until 1891 did federal law provide for the inspection of immigrants arriving at land border ports. Under the 1891 law, the Federal Government assumed the task of inspecting, admitting, rejecting, and processing all immigrants seeking admission to the United States. Enforcing immigration law was a new Federal function, and the 1890s witnessed the Immigration Service's first attempts to implement national immigration policy.

'If We Cannot Track You With Our Microchips, You Cannot Leave' — or, Why Ron Paul Is Right Again About 'Border Control'
Posted by Daniel McAdams on February 22, 2012 05:22 PM

When Ron Paul said in a debate last September that the border fences may well be built to keep Americans in rather than keep illegals out, the usual brain-dead, mainstream media-addicted sheep "laughed out loud" at this, the "apex of Paul’s paranoid band of libertarianism."

Fast forward to this incredible story today of a family who had their trip to Belize ruined because the father's passport had a slight crease on the back cover after it had inadvertently been sat on. The family had no problems in their native Denver, but as soon as they got to Dallas an airline official (read: government agent) decided that the passport was "mutilated" and ruined their trip for them.

What is most remarkable about the story is the interview with Ray Priest, owner of International Passport Visas in Denver, who speculated that the rejection may stem from possible damage to the microchip embedded in every American's passport.

Spoke Mr. Priest (who seems suspiciously unbothered — a good little totalitarian? — by the whole thing):

  • “To have a passport is privilege, it’s not entitled to you by citizenship.... They have no reason in the world to let you travel if it’s been damaged.... It’s like cutting your photo out or something if that chip doesn’t work.... This is done for national security...they can’t make an exception, period.” (emphasis added)

Another Lost Freedom: The Freedom To Move
  • If you don’t pay up, you’re stuck. This is not an exaggeration. Try crossing the border without a passport. Watch what happens. You will not be allowed out. Let me repeat: You will not be allowed out! Resist, and you’ll be thrown in a cage. Resist well, and you might be shot. The only way you are getting out is by paying up. And only when you’re done paying can you purchase your government-inflated airline ticket.
  • This article contains a good history of the growth of government passport usage.

Prof. Rozeff, thanks for defining “invasion.” An awful lot of folks wander around out there without the least idea of what the word means; I know because I hear from them each time I note that the Constitution never empowers Our Rulers to control our movements — or those of anyone else, even the dreaded Mexican who wants to pick our fruit and clean our toilets — into or out of the country. They tell me, often in ALL CAPS with vulgar terminology, that Leviathan is supposed to “repel invasions.” I’m continually baffled that anyone could mistake a desperate family hoping to find a better life through hard work and sacrifice for soldiers trespassing to murder, rape, and plunder; perhaps your clarification of the word as “an instance of invading a country or region with an armed force" will resolve the confusion.

Fed Up with "Vegans"!

CHOICE and CONTROL are the REAL issues!

The REAL issue is NOT whether humans CAN survive on plants only. The REAL issue is NOT about diet and nutrition.
The REAL issue is about INDIVIDUAL CHOICE versus GROUP CONTROL!

I eat plants, animals, algae and even some select fungi--I AM an omnivore. I DON'T CARE if Vegans choose to ONLY eat plants. But every "Vegan" that I have ever encountered, self-righteously wants to DENY me MY choice of what to eat--and they are not shy about attempting to pass "laws" to FORCE me to comply with their Vegan views. They want the government to enforce their Vegan choice upon everyone else at any cost. Without the power of government, their views cannot BE enforced.

What happens when government collapses, taking the copyright & patent office with it?
Do you whine and cry for new government,
or do you innovate new ways to profit from intellectual work?

would be better used in exploring methods by which
the free market could protect the just rewards of intellectual products."

“Do you really think you own what is in my mind?”
  • This article concludes with the same point I was making when I started this IP discussion forum:
  • "The energy being expended in debating intellectual property would be better used in exploring methods by which the free market could protect the just rewards of intellectual products."

IPR proponents don't need our agreement to protect their property
  • The burden of property protection belongs on the one who claims ownership.
  • Paul Bonneau is brief and to the point!
  • Anthony Shelley follows up with The Great Milk Robbery example from Harry Browne
  • Why should *I* be forced to pay to enforce THEIR IP claims?

If You Believe in IP, How Do You Teach Others?
  • The goal of the university is to spread knowledge, not to grant a one-time use for what you learn in the classroom. The aim of an individual student is to gain knowledge that is used in every possible way for a lifetime — and to pass the ideas on to others.
  • Perhaps this explains why the Objectivist movement--which is "tightly controlled" by Leonard Peikoff and the Ayn Rand Institute--seems to be stalled instead of spreading like Ayn Rand's books.

  • This punkish intellectual property scofflaw was Johann Sebastian Bach, master of the baroque style, spiritual father of modern Western music, literal father of a family of musicians, and inspiration to working creators everywhere. He was also —maybe not coincidentally—a serial user of other people’s work.

  • In 2006 the first "new" monopoly that was created by this FDA process was for the malaria drug quinine sulfate. This left only Mutual Pharmaceutical Company to manufacture quinine in the US
  • the FDA banned 500 prescription drugs that had been on the market and working for years.
  • It's really nice being granted a government monopoly.

[2012-03-19] The Pirate Bay Claims It's Going To Host The Site Via Drones Flying Over International Waters
  • One of the more amazing things about the recent moves by the entertainment industry to put in place stricter laws around the globe to attack file sharing, is that they still don't realize how pointless this is compared to the only real solution, which is to offer more of what consumers actually want, rather than trying to force them into some old way of doing business. For every "victory" the industry declares, we see more and more evidence that the file sharing just moves further away from what the industry can control (and keeps growing).

  • The MPAA and RIAA are fighting a losing battle. Their (literally) last century business model is done for. But rather than embrace change and new revenue streams, they twitch and kick like the dying body that they are. When the dust settles, they're going to find themselves holding a big bag of crap as their previous consumer base moves on to legitimate online entertainment that wants no part of their repressive antics.

[2012-05-21] Boycott the music "industry"! Here is just one of the reasons why...:
  • A federal judge called the fines unconstitutionally excessive, but the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston reinstated the penalty at the request of Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Warner Brothers Records Inc. and other record labels represented by the RIAA. [There is a partial list of businesses that should be boycotted...]
  • Actually, boycotting is easy and "automatic" because their "protected" products are grossly overpriced...LOL!

[2012-07-21] Why Copyright Is Bad for Musicians
  • ...it was publishers – not artists – who convinced governments to foist the system on us.
  • ...how on earth did Bach, Beethoven & Brahms survive and thrive without it?

[2012-11-27] Copyright Law: Standing in the Way of Progress
  • Did Germany experience rapid industrial expansion in the 19th century due to an absence of copyright law? A German historian [Eckhard Höffner] argues that the massive proliferation of books (14,000 in just 1843), and thus knowledge, laid the foundation for the country's industrial might.
  • Only 1,000 new works appeared annually in England at that time -- 10 times fewer than in Germany -- and this was not without consequences.
  • Authors in Germany enjoyed a higher relative income than did authors in England

  • The very concept of government marriage diminishes human freedom and is based on the assumption that governments should have the prerogative to meddle in every aspect of our lives. Government marriage, which is a recent invention of Western civilization, should be abolished altogether.

  • "...if you seek to outlaw abortions, you're going to have to add an enforcement clause to this legislation, aren't you?"
  • "...there'll have to be agency regulations that go along with the law and sustain it. To begin with, I suppose you realize that you'll have to insist on mandatory monthly pregnancy testing for every female in the country, from puberty to menopause."
